We shelved the top section, but left the ammo drawers for storage. We also added shelves to the bottoom section for additional storage. You can use each piece separately as well. The bottom section is perfect for a big screen TV stand with the glass slididng doors for your components. The glass doors could be lined with an opaque finish to hide the components from view. The top section is perfect as a stand alone bookcase. The overall measurements of this cabinet are 86 1/2" t x 17" d x 48 1/2"w. The bottom section is 37 1/4" t x 48 1/2 w.
